District goals 2010-2011

      Student—Academic Planning: Assure that all students receive long range academic counseling in regard to higher education and/or career planning, with an emphasis on utilizing real world success stories.

      Students—Academic Goal: Continue to work with all stakeholders to show an overall increase in TAKS scores across all subject areas, with emphasis on Math and Science.

      Leadership—Instructional leadership practices will include frequent walkthroughs by all administrators. Emphasis on positive reinforcement and support for both faculty and students. Administrators will reflect on the data gathered and meet with faculty to discuss areas of success, as well as areas needing improvement.

      Students—Curriculum, instruction, and assessment alignment: Align the materials being taught in the classroom with assessment. Implement the CScope & DMAC programs, with TEKS/TAKS alignment being reflected in lesson plans. Continue to incorporate concrete evaluations including regular benchmark testing that doubles as TAKS prep.

      Community Relations: To provide programs that promote district unity through the fostering of spirit, pride, character, and a tradition of excellence in both the school and community.

      Operations: Fiscal Goal—Buna ISD will keep budgeted expenditures as close to revenue projections as possible, while utilizing fund balance only to the extent needed to maintain current levels of educational excellence, without cutting vital programs. Teachers will be encouraged to expand their areas of certification and staffing levels and student enrollment will be closely monitored to ensure payroll mirrors ADA.
